DON'T FORGET END BUG FONTS: Designers, when you create font folders for your magazines, remember to include the font for end bugs. Otherwise editors and copy editors will see just a stray character at the end of the text. (10/26/06)
UNSCRAMBLE WEB SITE TEXT: If you're seeing strange type on Web sites—Greek-looking symbols and odd fractions—you need to deactivate a few fonts. In FontAgent Pro, go to the Helvetica folder and deactivate Helvetica-Fraction and Helvetica-FractionBold. In the Times folder, deactivate Times-PhoneticIPA and Times-PhoneticAlternate. BOOKMARK STYLEBOOK: Always have easy access to SIMStylebook.com by placing it on your bookmarks toolbar. Go to www.SIMStylebook.com, click on the address in the URL window, and drag it down to the bookmarks bar. A window will pop up where you can give the bookmark any name you'd like. MAKE ALIAS: To make an alias (an icon that functions as a shortcut to a file), hold down the apple and option keys while you drag a file from the server to your desktop. (12/15/05)
WINDOW SIZING: To shrink your open windows so you can see them all at once, hit option-F9. Hit option-F9 again or click on any window to return all the windows to their original size. (11/10/05)
